Wow. Definitely a good read. In this novel, Tonya addresses some very relevant topics in a way that is non-threatening and realistic. The novel describes the life-destroying damage that often happens as a result of abuse and manipulation, and it follows the life of a girl named Tara, who has undergone such experiences and who displays the all-too-common indicators. Her roommate Wendy shows Tara godly acceptance and love and forgiveness, and even when Tara does hurtful things, Wendy is there for her. This story tugs on your heart, and provokes compassion in those who have been insulated from this kind of situation. It is quite an eye-opener, and it's well-written and well-paced—many were the times I'd say to myself, "I'll stop reading at the end of this chapter," only to reach the end of the chapter and think, "I can't stop reading yet! This is a story of how God never gives up on you! His unconditional love is always there! Tonya gives this message in a powerful way! She also addresses the sadness of sexual and domestic abuse, eating disorders, and suicide. I had a hard time putting this book down when I started reading it! Well written!
God has really gifted Tonya Hance with the ability to write. I love how God's truth is interwoven throughout the book. An easy read that will make you think about God and His plan for your life and the choices that we make.

Tonya’s journey into a life of commitment to Jesus Christ finds expression in Tara’s relationship with her housemate Wendy. The young women, both wounded by disappointment and less than healthy family life, battle Tara’s insecurity with support from a young adult ministry called Unplugged. Just as Tara shows progress toward a stable self concept and new understanding of the goodness of God, she connects with an unsavory character through a Christian match-making site on the internet. The drama intensifies as Tara’s shaky faith fails and her friends’ patience reaches the breaking point.
Tonya saturates her writing with Scripture citing the authority of the Bible for personal inspiration and guidance as well as challenging the philosophies of Plato and Nietzsche. I would recommend her book to young adults encountering the lure of the internet without the foundation of godly parents and healthy peer relationships. Her message is sound and the story is credible. May its impact have eternal consequences.
I usually do not enjoy reading novels, but this book captured my attention. The author tackles faith issues in a compelling way. I enjoyed the idea she presents of unplugging from everything you think you know about God - from your beliefs, opinions, and things you have been taught - and plugging into the Scriptures to find out who God truly is. This is a fast, entertaining read that hits on some real life issues that people struggle with, yet the author makes sure to point the reader to God throughout those struggles. I enjoyed the theme of the prodigal child throughout the book as the main character runs from the image of God that she has created in her mind based on human experiences while God continues to pursue her.
